Birthday Fun!

Each birthday I celebrate reminds me how grateful, thankful, and lucky I am to have such great family and friends.  I was overwhelmed with the calls, texts, wall posts, and cards as I turned 27 on Tuesday.

We celebrated my birthday on Monday with the Slagles at our house - steaks, shrimp, my favorite salad, and Gigi's cupcakes!  On Tuesday, Grandma and Grandpa came back over to watch Connor while Keith took me out to my favorite restaurant, Joey D's, for date night!  It was so relaxing to be able to eat dinner without juggling a baby and eating/chatting at our own pace (rather than rushing through so we don't have a crazy baby)!

The best birthday present :)

... but this comes in a close 2nd!  Connor has such great writing... thanks daddy :)

Thank you everyone for everything you did to make 26 amazing and I look forward to an equally fun (and different) 27!

First Tooth (and 2nd)!

I'm a bit delinquent in blogging as things happen so this post includes first and second teeth for Connor!

On Friday, 9/20, I was playing with Connor and noticed that he got his first tooth on the bottom left.  This definitely explains his fussiness over the past few days/weeks.

Connor had a pretty rough morning yesterday and was super fussy so I assumed he would be getting another tooth within the next few days.  I was pretty surprised when I looked in his mouth this morning and saw that he got his second tooth on the bottom right so fast!

Naturally, everything he touches goes straight into his mouth since he is teething so we got a few teething toys that you put in the refrigerator and he loves them!

It is pretty much impossible to get a picture of his teeth, so with Keith's help, this is the best I could get:

On Sunday, we went to our friends house to watch the Falcon's game and I couldn't resist a picture of the boys in their Falcons jerseys!

5 Months!

September 17th marked Connor's 5 month birthday!  He continues to become more and more fun, curious, and animated each day.

He now weighs just over 16 pounds and wears clothes in the 6-9 month range.  He is so funny when he eats solids - he gulps down half a jar of baby food in just a few minutes.  With that, he has become a lot less excited about his bottle formula (seems logical to me - baby food has way more flavor!) but he still gets most of his nutrition from formula.

At 5 months, Connor loves:
* playing on his tummy
* reading books
* putting all toys/blankets in his mouth
* trying to scoot (unsuccessful thus far)
* watching football with daddy and friends
* going on walks
* jumping in his exersaucer
* all flavors of baby food he's tried

He currently dislikes:
* being on his back - he flips immediately to his tummy
* being strapped into his carseat (well, until we start moving on a walk or in the car)

Connor is currently working on sitting up on his own, which seems very inconsistent - he is easily distracted and falls over toward the distraction!

Here are some pictures I took to show his growth at 5 months:

Hiking Trip

I'm sure you were worried with how our family survived our first fall Saturday without any of our college teams playing (Florida for me, Clemson and Georgia for Keith).  Well have no worries - we ditched the city for the north Georgia mountains and went hiking at Amicalola Falls, which is just over an hour from where we live.  Amicalola Falls State Park is home to the tallest waterfall in Georgia and feeds into the Appalachian Trail.  Since Connor is obviously too young to hike on his own, we ended up doing an abbreviated trip but he seemed to enjoy the parts we explored!  He loved the sound of the waterfalls and kept staring at them and all the people around us.

The start to the Appalachian Trail

Little baldy needed a hat for his pale, bald head!

Surprisingly, he enjoyed his hat!

He was mesmerized by the waterfall

Our little adventure sure wore him out and he fell asleep in the car as we were leaving - while playing with his burp cloth :)

We hope you and your family had a great weekend!  It seems to be cooling down here in Atlanta, which is a nice change from our hot August!

Fall = Football Season!

The beginning of fall has come with even more "firsts" for Connor.  If you know Keith and me, you know that we love fall - mainly because it's the start of college and pro football!  Saturday mornings at our house now consist of figuring out when Florida, Clemson, and Georgia play so Connor can cheer on the appropriate team - he still goes through a few outfits a day so it works out great! :)

And on Sundays, we can all agree - GO FALCONS!

Connor is now eating different kinds of phase one baby food.  So far, he has enjoyed rice cereal, peas, sweet potatoes, and bananas.  The pediatrician recommends that you do the same food for 4 days to ensure they aren't allergic - so far so good!  He is starting to understand how to eat solids and the majority makes it down the hatch the first time now!

 Peas - they don't look too appetizing when they're pureed...

Sweet Potatoes

His energy level has definitely picked up and he is easily entertained with just about anything.  He loves playing in his exersaucer and is working hard on sitting up.  He plays so hard that he still takes 3 naps a day and has figured out his eat/sleep schedule so he knows what's coming and when it is time to sleep at night.

Connor and I are starting "Teeny Tykes and Tunes" at church this week, which is a mommy/me music class so I'm sure I will have some funny stories from that!
